Funny, quick read I found through More Than Dodgeball. The new blog is called “Students Say the Darndest Things” and it’s full of quotes and one-liners from youth ministers. (I sent one in, hope they use it!)
My favorite so far:
“Are we taking the bus or the vans to Africa?”
and
“Satan isn’t a nerd. Satan is the Devil!”

The fishbowl is a big glass bowl we keep on the table in the youth room at CSMSG, and it’s where kids put in questions they’d love to know the answers to, but that don’t quite fit the topic of each Wednesday evening. They’ve come up with some really great ones this fall, including:
- Why do we call him “Jesus Christ our Savior” when Christ means savior?
- How many religions are there in the universe?
- Are there any things/events/services in our church that come from Martin Luther’s ideas?
- How the heck can you not think that Panic at the Disco is the greatest band ever?
- Why do we pray with our heads pointed down toward the Devil? What if God comes while we’re facing away from Him?
- Was Jesus a nerd?

One of the Wednesday night kids asked where I get the Bible study outlines we use each week. We write our own, usually, so I answered, “Well, I write them.”
“So you go looking for all the Bible verses?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“That means you have to go digging through the whole Bible every week.”
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry.”
Wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry, so I blogged!
