Found this story when I hit the MSN headlines this morning.
A contest that would pay $10,000 to an engaged couple, as long as they abstain from premarital sex, hasn’t gotten any takers. The deadline for the Marriage for a Lifetime contest is Oct. 31. The prize includes free flowers, invitations and other wedding treats.
I’m not sure what to do with this. It’s a worthy cause with a valuable prize, but the people who were going to wait until they were married anyway aren’t going to need the extra motivation, and the people who haven’t waited aren’t eligible. So let’s file it under “Umm…okay?” As a side note, it’s a medical center sponsoring the contest, not a church group.
